Keep Your Oral Health in Control with Comprehensive Dental Exams and Cleanings
Has it been years since your last dental visit in Peterborough, New Hampshire? Welcome to Our Town Dental! Dr. Jihae Yang and her team provide a judgment-free environment where your oral health is our top priority. Our goal is to help you achieve a healthy, confident smile—no matter how long it’s been since your last appointment. Whether it’s been years or you’ve never visited a dentist, we welcome you for a comprehensive dental exam and personalized care.
What happens at your dental check-up?
Our office is gentle, and you can be sure your dental exam will be comfortable. Even if you experience dental anxiety, you can expect a worry-free visit.
While the check-up is detailed, it doesn’t take much of your time. Your exam starts with a visual exam, where we assess your gums and teeth for signs of:
- Gum disease
- Tooth decay
- Dental misalignment
- Faulty dental work
Our dental exams also include digital x-rays to detect issues beneath the gum line. With dental x-rays, we can uncover interproximal cavities, bone loss, impacted teeth, and other hidden problems. If we identify any issues, we’ll devise a personalized treatment plan to restore your oral health. However, before starting any procedure, we’ll discuss it in detail to ensure you are comfortable.
What can I expect during dental cleaning?
Your treatment plan will likely include a dental cleaning. This procedure ensures we remove plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas of the mouth. Even though you brush and floss your teeth daily, plaque may still accumulate. This issue might affect only a few teeth or could be more widespread. During routine dental cleanings, the dental hygienist uses special skills and tools to remove unhealthy deposits from all mouth surfaces. Next, we polish your teeth to create a smooth, shiny surface.
We expect to see you again after six months after your dental cleaning. Before your next appointment, observe optimal oral hygiene to ensure your smile remains healthy and clean.
What are the benefits of regular dental exams and cleanings?
We understand life can be busy with personal, family, and work responsibilities. While your hands may be full of responsibilities, don’t let your oral health fall by the wayside. Adhere to regular oral check-ups and cleanings, and enjoy the following treatments. Â
- Early detection: Regular dental visits allow us to address problems early before they cause pain. Early detection ensures we treat problems with conservative and less costly treatments.
- Prevention: Regular teeth cleanings remove plaque and tartar to protect your smile from gum disease, bad breath, and tooth decay.
- Enhanced aesthetics: Dental cleanings remove surface stains and unsightly plaque to keep your smile healthy and beautiful.
- Better systemic health: There is a strong link between oral and systemic health. Guarding the “gateway” to your entire body (your mouth) protects your physical well-being from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, respiratory problems, and other systemic illnesses.
- Cost-effective: Routine dental care saves you from dental crowns, root canals, and other costly treatments. Routine dental appointments save your smile and wallet, too.
The standard is to visit the dentist every six months. However, if you have a history of gum disease or cavities, we’ll schedule dental visits every 3-4 months.
