The seven steps involved in the dental crown process

Let’s break down the process of getting dental crowns step by step in a simple way:

This step ensures your tooth is ready for its new cap and identifies any underlying problems, like decay or a root canal that might need addressing beforehand.
2. Prepping the natural tooth. Once everything checks out, it is time to prepare your tooth for its crown makeover! Your dentist shapes the tooth by gently trimming it down so there’s enough room for the crown to fit snugly. If your tooth is damaged or too small, they might build it up with filling material to create a strong base.
3. Dental impressions. Next comes the custom design phase! Our team takes impressions or scans of your prepped tooth and the surrounding teeth. These impressions act like blueprints for crafting your perfect crown. They may use gooey impression material or advanced digital scanning tools.
4. Placement of a temporary crown. While your permanent crown is being fabricated (a process that can take a couple of weeks), your dentist fits you with a temporary crown.
